My opinion on IBD and San Diego Vivarium

First of all I know Dale and respect him in the reptile trade. He is very ethical in the way he does business and wants to do things the right way. Even though I like him and respect him I have told him that he was out of line with his insults to Bill C. and others. He should of just stuck to his story of all of the events. Now here is my opinion on all of this controversy. If Bill C. is such a snake expert then why did he buy suspect animals from Dale? Since this disease is pretty undetectable then how can anybody here be at fault? Unless a snake shows symptoms and is then sold then nobody in this business can be at fault. Now if one of your dead snakes is diagnosed with this disease and you sell one of your group then you are at fault. So whoever becomes the first one to discover this issue with there group of animals should immediately quarrantine their entire group of animals unless said animals are in a different building or location. Have you done this Bill C.. Dale has not had any of his animals in his possesion get symptoms at all so I think he is safe. Can Bill C. prove he is safe now?

 If any of you suspect this health issue with your animals it is your duty to inform as many people as possible. This has a down side Bill, Dale etc. because you will probably lose some sales. But losing some sales is better than an epedemic. If Bill C. discovered this with his animals a few months ago and did not tell the world it means he was worried about losing business and was willing to risk an epidemic. If he did tell all of you the day he found out then he did the right thing. So which path did he choose? I will not say or debate that.

So what can we do about this disease? OK here is what I would do and some of you medical vetinary lovers will laugh but you know what I have college level anatomy&Physiology and disease& pathology under my belt as well as being an educated herbalist so criticize all you want. If I can knock out Staph in my own son with herbs that is all the proof I need.

I suggest all of you go to your local health food store and buy some Colloidal silver (microparticle silver) and give your snakes a quarter dropperful twice a day for two weeks. BYU did a study on this stuff and found it to be more broad spectrum than most antibiotics. It is highly antiviral too. There is a guy I know e mail HYDRUS@aol.com who followed my advice and sucessfully got rid of a stubborn respiratory virus in his water monitor. This stuff is about $40 for 4 ounces of 500ppm strength. Now if any of you are vets get a Petri dish and add some drops of this stuff to some bacteria and see for yourself the next morning what happens. The pioneers used silver coins to keep their drinking water supply pure and silver paste was used in WW1 for wounds befor Sulfa Drugs and antibiotics.

 This stuff should be given to every fresh import we get. I read the report on the dead snakes and it appears that there was inflammatory damage and ulcerations in various parts of the animals body. This means there was internal heat, which means infections, which means bacteria. So silver would be my first choice because of it's strong antiviral/antbacterial properties. Silver creates an environment that viruses hate life. So does garlic and olive leaf but it would be hard to administer to animals. Disease cannot exist in an inhospitable environment. Do flies come to a clean garbage can or a dirty one? So feed the body and clean the body and disease of any kind will not get a foothold. I have suggestions for parasites and building the immune system but I gotta sleep now. So take my opinions and  info and do what you think is best.

Ok well i thinks theres over a bakers dozen on the whole IBD crap here and im sure everyone has made there opinions about it . SO &nbsp;now having said that i think its safe to say this
1- The parties &nbsp;involved have stated there cases over and over
2- no matter what they say or do now people will make there self decided choices &nbsp;before buying any animals from the parties involved.
3-All the childs &nbsp;finger pointing and accusations are like beating a dead horse at this point

To Jason, boy you have some mouth on you man. Sounds like you and Bill are friends, maybe even related. Step off his jock for a minute, what makes you think Dale or Bill is right or wrong? Admit it they both are guilty of passing sick snakes on. They are both guilty of still selling snakes. That is what is important here. I suggest you stay neutral in all of this. First off i want to apoligize for my anger and negative statemnts earlier, Yes, I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning and had a baby that didnt want to sleep last night also I am just gettting really burnt out on the never end soap opera here, this is my final post in these threads, which I know will make a few people happy, anyway I am going to leave everyone with these two thoughts

1st the answer to the question that not ONE SINGLE person on this board has asked, Bill querintines his animals in a seperate building from his private collection, having many years of experiance with querintes and such his querintine is set up so that when he gets a group in from one such person these animals a not exposed to the animals already there and vis-versa, so in other words the animals he already had when he bought these from Dale were not exposed to Dales animals nor were Dales animals exposed to the aniamls he already had in his querintine, now if you can figure out the question that shouldhave been asked long ago you win a prize
