Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Corn Egg Problems HELP NEEDED
My female layed 19 eggs last night but all but 1 are infertile. What could have caused this? Both her and the male are healthy although she is a little under weight now but will start gaining again soon. This was the female and the males first time breeeding if that has anything to do with it. I am hoping to get her weight up and get her to double cluch. Any thought or tips on getting the next cluch to turn out better are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any input
Josh

A few potential causes might be inadequate brumation temperatures (i.e. not cool enough), inadequate brumation length, or just plain low fertility on the part of the male.
I hear alot of reference to the "first clutch phenomenon", but I don't buy it. There's just no reason why the female would have problems with fertility on that reason alone. She shelled and laid the eggs so I tend to look at the male first as the source of such problems.
Nineteen eggs takes alot out of a cornsnake physically. Don't double clutch her just for the sake of getting more eggs, there's always next season. Make sure she is physically able to lay a second clutch without risking her health before trying for a double clutch.
If you further deplete her resources this year she may not be able to recover to the point of being a good breeder next spring, and if the male's fertility is to blame with this clutch, there's no reason to believe he will be more fertile for a second clutch dirung the same year.
There's more possibilities, there's alot of things factored into successful breeding, but the one I mentioned would be what I would consider first until I found out how next season went.

Right off the bat, I would suspect the male's fertility (or the lack thereof) as well. The only way to be more certain is to breed her to a proven male. If she still throws slugs at a disproportional rate, there may something wrong with her, but I would imagine it's him. If she has her weight back on her later this summer, try her again with another male. That will tell you a lot more than you know now!

My personal experience with females that throw a lot of slugs is the fact that they were not heavy enough. I had a female this year that did not put her wieght on fast enough. I was contemplating if I should breed her or not. Well, I did, it was a big mistake. She threw 15 slugs and was horribly thin. To make matters worse, she double clutched on her own. I did not put a male in with her again after she had the slugs because she was so thin, but it did not matter. Over the period of two/three weeks she would lay 2 to 3 slugs a day. On top of that she refused to eat. It has been only a few weeks since she started eating again and now I'm going to have to pump her up pretty good just to have a chance again this coming spring. By the way, the male that bred her was a proven fertile male!!
