UTH inside the tank ?

I have been doing this with my glass tanks ,, I put cardboard on the sticky side so I can
take the heat source out any time I need to, plus not having to heat up the glass first makes it
even easier to maintain the desired temperature.
What do you guys think ?

Most UTH's are not designed to handle the humidity in the tank, or the potential for getting wet if your snake urinates or poops on it or if it dumps its water bowl. You would also have to put the thermostat probe for it in the tank, which your snake can then pee on, poop on, get wet, or even move away from the UTH. All of these conditions can cause it to run wide open and get hot enough to burn your snake.

The adhesive is on the UTH because it is designed to be stuck under the tank. You don't have to use the adhesive if you want to be able to move the UTH to a different tank in the future. You just need another way to hold the UTH against the bottom glass with the t-stat probe sandwiched between them.

Dave, it was a fine question for this area, no worries!

I agree with Melinda, not a good idea to have the UTH in the cage for all the reasons she stated.
Good luck!

Thanks AbsoluteApril :-)
I do see now that the question could have gone on the Feed, caging message board.
I will be a little more careful next time.
I guess you guys are right , I should be using the UTH'S as intended .
I plan on switching the substrate over to cypress mulch and eco-earth, to keep the humidity
more consistent, I will get the UTH'S where they belong then.
Thanks again
