free roaming tegu??

does anyone have any idea of which species of tegu would be best for free roaming. i have never had a problem with free roaming before in fact i had some free roam dragons in my house now i have a free roaming 11 foot redtail. dont worry they red tail and the tegu cant get close to eachother they are in diff parts of the house. thinking about a monitor or a tegu. any thoughts would be great.

i am not sure about a moniter-they can sometimes have a temper! but, have you ever heard of an argentine black and white tegu?-they get pretty big, (max at 5ft), and they very docile.
(if you don't mind me asking)-how do you have a free roaming redtail???

In general, the idea of any free-roaming reptile is a bad idea. Aside from the increased possibility of escape, and them crapping on your possessions, there's a very real danger to the animals and yourself. What if you slip, fall over, and land on one? A 150lb+ human landing on even a large boa would break numerous ribs and possibly its spine, and smaller reptiles would almost certainly be killed. Even in a 'reptile proof' room, they can get into things and places where they could get hurt.

Invest in cages, *then* buy an animal.

If you've properly tegu-proofed a area... then I'd say a arg black and white.. or a argentine red. Any of the argentine tegus are decent if you take time with them. Just make certain they have a basking spot to get to and be comfortable in, and be certain that they are contained, and not able to get free. Also be aware of any wires, lamps, fire hazards, small spaces, vents, and loose ceiling tiles. A tegu is a strong lizard and they will wedge themselves into areas you wouldn't think of.
I myself would not attempt to have fre-roaming tegus(especially not a snake) for the animal's safety.

The appropriate question isn't whether they "love it" or not (which, frankly, is such an anthropomorphism as to make it a worthless measure), but whether it is *safe* and a good habitat, both of which I'm extremely dubious of.
