Sweet Boa. Don't you worry about feeding on loose substrate? Could go real bad if a peice gets by yer eye. I lay some news paper down, get them to latch onto the rat, and slide them onto the paper. Real easy for the first year and half or so till they start to gain some weight. LOL

Anyway, nice snake.

VERY calm. Not at all like typical Nics. More like the temperament of a common boa.

Actually this snake IS a year old already. They are dwarf boas. Both are only around the 2 foot mark and eat like pigs.
The food in the pic is a mouse. They are nowhere near ready for even small rats (and for some reason don't care for pinkie rats ).

I've never had a problem with any of my animals feeding while in the tubs with the cypress.

Damn! If that's a mouse and a year old boa, i guess dwarf isn't a joke. LOL I figured smaller like most CA, but that guys TINY.

Hope you never do have a problem either. I lost a boa once due to impaction, so I'm more paranoid I guess.

Good luck with them.

Now you have me worried. LOL.
These guys are so new to the market, I don't want to lose one of the pair I was lucky enough to get.

Here is a pic to show the size of me holding a year old female. These are true dwarfs.

Well, I shared an alternative that's worked well for me for years. Give it a try next feeding.

Nice pic. Would never guess a yearling. My 3 month old neos are that big at least. Makes me wonder how tiny the babies are at birth. Do they start on crickets or what? LOL

Thanks for sharing.
