Your comment was pretty accurate...and I'd be willing to lay a wager on the identity of the person that gave negative karma. Since I agreed with your post from the start, I had no qualms about overpowering the negative you received

Show Me
I've shipped a large number of adult dogs and puppies and received many (I'm a ex breeder) using Delta, and never had one problem. I have used many other airlines and Delta is the best when it comes to shipping puppies!!!! There are a lot of loser pet owners and breeders that ship unhealthy, drugged and old dogs which sure isn't Delta's fault.

What is the motivation to use Delta in 2012?

Driving to and from the airport for both the shipper and recipient is expensive and troublesome, time and money wise.

The shipping itself is expensive, and they haven't offered live arrival insurance in years.

What is it that appeals to you as a Delta shipper, for those of you that use them?

Because I can't ship 175lbs in animals for the same price through FedEx or any of the overnight services, or even a 17x17x10 box, with my volume discount.......

Or, I can't ship to Puerto Rico or Hawaii in the same time frame for less than it would cost me to ship through FedEx......

So it does come down to transit time and cost, seeing that most Flights to decent sized Airports only take a few hours from one end to the other, if you know how to work the Delta commuter system.........

I for one would switch over to South West exclusively if they would offer service to more Airports in the US, as South West is a whole lot cheaper than Delta, with the same level of service........

All of this is Export excluded......Totally different can of worms there.......

Yes, I was discounting exports in my thoughts, but you are right, for heavy packages, or very large packages, that makes sense.

I was thinking standard 12x9x6 packages : )

Sometimes you have to think outside the box?

The Airlines are definately not for the average Hobbiest, but they do have their place in the trade.......

I ship venomous snakes 99% of the time so I use Delta.

I've been using Delta Dash for 30 years. They have misplaced two boxes during all these years. Both of these were found and rerouted with no causalities.
