Question Retained eyecap?

I've got an adult Ringed Python with what initially appeared to be a retained eyecap. Upon closer inspection using a magnifying glass, no retained eyecap can be seen . Various techniques (soaking, mineral oil...) were used to try and remove something that just wasn't there.

Any suggestions on an alternate diagnosis?

Kaa needs a wife
If it really is a retained eycap the honest best thing to do is to just wait for the next shed. However if you feel that there is one their and it needs to come off the cget a clean paper toel wet in some warm not hot water. Place it on his eye and carefully try to gently wipe it off. I once removed a retained eyecap from a chondro python in this manner and let me tell you he wasn't a very happy customer.
