if your yellow flies are like our greenheads, you may be able to trap them and put a dent in the population.

Sticky type traps aren't suitable around here, because the green anoles will wind up getting stuck on the traps. I saw an account of someone using large black inflated beach balls covered with a sticky substances that appeared to be very effective, but again, the collateral damage with the lizards would have been a problem.

We have several Mosquito Magnets running, which seem to be very effective at trapping the yellow flies without the collateral damage. Since the flies are attracted to movement, and from what I have read, the color blue, I have set up some "motion aids" in the form of whirlygigs and blinking blue lights to help attract the flies from a surrounding distance to where the Mosquito Magnets are located.

The population has been GREATLY reduced lately, but we still find one or two buzzing us now and again.

Maybe hang them with string.

I'm not sure that would help much. The anoles would notice flies trapped and struggling on the adhesive, and the motion would attract them to the traps themselves. They are perfectly capable of climbing down a string to the trap.

Heck, I'm hoping like hell Connie doesn't find a baby anole in one of my Venus fly traps. Heck, I'm hoping I don't find that. Might be the end of my mini-bog gardens.
