Well most of you that know me know that So-chee was the worlds WORST puppy. Such a nightmare! I never thought she would be a good dog~ but somehow or another, with lots and lots of work she has turned into a great campanion, family and livestock gaurdian! Such a good girl! (Now!) And she even grew out of that ugly stage! (Thank Goodness! She was an UGLY teenager!)
Well with all the birds I've got now~ 70 chickens, 10 Turkeys (lost two), 9 geese and 5 ducks~ and the plan to get goats and cattle~ So-Chee was really working her heart out watching all those birds~ the house~ us~ and being the "pet" (yes~ she does sleep in the bed with us!). So she needed an assistant to do more of the outside LGD (Livestock Gaurdian Dog) chores and to do the overnights outside (So-chee has to come in and gaurd us in our bed~ that leaves the livestock in peril). After a lot of back and forth~ and what to do I bought a registered anatolian shepherd from working lines~ she will be ready in August.
THEN................
I found out the nieghbor with two great pyrenees~ unregistered but REALLY GOOD working dogs I had seen working a lot~ had pups for sale. Being such a nice neighbor~ he offered pups to me and another neighbor for his costs (for shots) rather than what he was selling them for to other people.........I couldn't resist! Meet So-Chee's newest assistant!
He doesn't have a name yet~ he's not registered or anything~ but he is a full blood Pyr.........and admit it........he's just a good looking pup! He was raised with goats and has never been around poultry before~ but hasn't tried to chase or harrass the Turkeys at all yet. So far (couple hours) all looks good~ I put him right into the Turkey pen and plan for him to stay there until he forgets he used to live at the neighbors house! He is going to be a BIG DOG! We are very excited! We will pick out a name for him soon.......you know how we are~ takes forever for us to choose a name! (I'm leaning toward "Tater" but no one else in the house like it!)
I'm still buying the anatolian shepherd too........So-chee needs two assistants if we are getting goats too! I LOVE living out in the country~ I CAN have three dogs.....I have the space and a job for them all!
