what breed of skink is this

Found this skink near river here in Bakersfield ca. Not sure of the breed . it has a bright orange head and rest is brown olive color

Looks like a Male Gilbert's Skink to me.
To my knowledge, Broadhead Skinks do not occur in Ca.

Thank you the broad headed does look so similar to Gilbert's skink I looked up broad headed and to my knowledge they prefer damp areas not dry desert climates and Bakersfield ca. Is desert area I can believe this to be a Gilberts skink male since he has no stripes and looks just like the pictures I have found online about Gilberts skink maybe I will find a female now

Skinks, in general, are fun to keep, and many times calm down enough to take food from your hands after a while.

The photo is a 5 Lined Skink I photographed while out herping several years ago. Went back a few days later to hopefully get a shot of the hatchlings pipping, but the eggs had already hatched and the youngsters dispersed.

Oh cool to bad you did get to see them hatch . she had a big clutch there
