Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

I don't know Brandon, clicking on the number should display the signatures. It does for me.

I think so. I'll post some of the better hate mails when they start coming in.

So far two signers have expressed their hope that we rot in hell for starting this petition.
I find it ironic that they are so devoted to their rats but think nothing of condemning another human to eternal damnation.
I will post this response:
Quote:
i am relly mad about this. i am 14 and have had a rat for too years now. he is my best frined, and i don't wnat his head hurted. Pleas don' t do this to him.

For some reason I have always found a mixture of humor and utter disappointment whenever I see a teenager with such atrocious communication skills. 36 words, 5 errors and one typo, no capitalization.
Interestingly the post was made during normal school hours. The worst part is this is the rule rather than the exception it seems.

It's really enlightening to see the skewed opinions of many people out there. I just find it impossible to understand their method of reasoning. It is often repeated in the comments of the petition that snakes shouldn't be kept as pets while many who make that comment have caged rodents.
They speak of how inhumane it is that a live mouse be fed to a snake, but generally disregard the fact that that's exactly what happens everyday in the wild. What requires captivity to be different?
While most snakes will indeed eat thawed prey many simply won't. I have several ball pythons that would starve to death if I refused to let them have live prey.
Regardless we're all preaching to the choir here. We'll never understand their way of thinking. We look at the natural food chain as normal, while they view it as something that should only apply in the wild.
Just for laughs though here's a few of the better comments made on the petition for those who didn't want to take the time to browse them. Many just display their complete ignorance of anything regarding snakes.
For those who didn't get the typo, Hippocrates was the greek physician from who we get the Hippocratic Oath
Thank you for that brilliant revelation Jessica. Too bad you didn't mention what those other foods are because we poor snake owners just can't seem to figure it out.
I think Nikki has watched Finding Nemo one to many times.
I keep offering my boas cucumbers, but they just aren't getting it. Maybe yellow squash is the way to go.
I had to look it up to see. This is from the Urantia Foundation website:
"The Urantia Book, first published by the Urantia Foundation in 1955, was authored by celestial beings as a special revelation to our planet, Urantia."
Enough said there
Pot....kettle...... you get the idea. I'd feel safe wagering I've had snakes with more intelligence than Kelly here.
Yeah, too bad you apparently need special training to kill a mouse. In essence he's just saying he doesn't know enough to kill a rodent.
Or.........what?
Haha, at least these nutcases are good for a laugh if nothing else. I bet they'd just love my rodent building, the room of doom, haha.

Clay,
That is just about the funniest thing I have seen in a while! Thanks man!
By the way, I just found by accident that Petsmart, long opposed to selling rodents for food (although just fine with crickets and fish as food because apparently their lives are worth less) has now decided to start selling frozen mice. I had an argument with the high and mighty girl in the fish department. She is disgusted by it but when I brought up the fish/cricket argument, she wilted. So sad!

I get this message when I try to access the sig page on Clay's petition.

I've never seen such an error before. As far as I know I'm current on everything and have current browser, so I don't know why I would get this message.

Well, this did provide me at least with an afternoon of enjoyment. The novelty has worn off though.
I didn't get the degree of mail I expected. A total of seven emails and only one was funny. Here's a quote from that one, censored by me:
Quote:
I are a f*****g sick b**th who has no f*****g idea what you are talking about.
|
I can only assume they actually meant to say "You are a" instead of "I are a". I got a laugh out of that one.
I also put a post on exotichobbyist (part of kingsnake.com) rat forum. Surprise surprise, it was deleted. I have no idea which of the plethora of rules it violated or if it was just more random censoring over there by the PHwhatevers with inflated egos.
Interestingly one of them did respond before it was deleted, PHRat I think the name was. They posted a link to a USDA regulations page. Seems rats and mice are already exempt from humane treatment reguations.
Anyway, it was good for some laughs. I'll leave the petition up a few days to see if it gets any more responses.
