Temps for Rosy

Whats the temps I need for my 20 gallon long? I keep the warm side at 83-85 degrees, with a hot spot of 90, the middle is roughly 80, and the cooler end is about 73-77. Is this good? I also know humidity is unwelcome, but what is too much? What is average?
I would appreciate any response, unless your dumb.

Thanks, I might be keeping the cool side a little too cool.

Does he tend to stay there a lot? Or in the hot spot a lot?

Actually he spends most of his time on the hot side. He does go to the cooler side every other day or so, for about half the day.

Just make sure he has a screen top with no obstructions and get a heat pad that gets him as warm as a pankake fresh of the stove.. That would be over a 100 degrees my friend, then your rosys will be on the cold side more often than not.. lol.. Snakes need to get over 98 degrees to thrive right, in my book...

Question along the line of Temps...husband a heat pad...year old rosy in a 20 long and we're having trouble getting the Temps regulated...UGH!!!! Bought a Red Heat light at the store....75 watt...and it's not bringing the tank up to the 90 in the basking area even with the heat pad, I'm kind of at a loss, so what wattage bulb do I need...I'm frustrated here, the pet store told me this was the right wattage for my tank...turns out I'll be spending more money again, I'm just lucky we have the lights for our other aquarium right now to keep the little guy warm.

I would say DO NOT use a heat lamp. Just use a undertank heat pad/ heat rope/heat tape on 1/3 of the tank. Contol the heat pad with some kid of thermometer that has a temp control. You do not need the tank to measure too hot, use a IR temp gun and check the temp of the floor inside the tank on the hotside and cool side. I keep the hotspot about 90 (92 for gravid females) and keep the cool side at room temp which is usually about 80. I live in So Cal so the humidity ranges naturally between 20-50 at times inside the snake room. I have NOT had any issues with URI's either. I only give a small water bowl inside for 1 day a week overnight then I remove it. If you live where it is more humid you may need to do other things to lower the humidity to about 20. Check out locality rosys forum for more input. Good luck. Rich
