Sulcata~ is it a boy.....or is it prolapsed?

My sister just came to me in a panic~ SOMETHING was hanging out of her FEMALE Sulcata tortoise............

I don't know anything about torts......but the tort was outside in the sprinklers having a lovely time....and I think HE was having a VERY GOOD time............

But Karen is worried~ and since we don't actually know what a tortoises penis looks like~ we are a worried it could be a prolapse......

so~ are these porno shots of a young male exploring?
or do we need to be worried? (it went back in already~ which I think supports my theory that he was just enjoying himself out in the sprinkler!)

I just squirted coffee out my nose.

Yes, that's a healthy BOY tort.

You should change her name to "Hedgehog".

I think that's a girl and I think she was having a REAL good time.

Boy tend to have much longer tails and their hemipenes don't look so orchid like.

Your Sister's little girl is growing up, how cute.

I don't know enough about tortoise anatomy to say exactly what that is being exposed, but I will agree with Wes that it's quite a short tail.
The notch between the anal scutes is also quite narrow compared to that normally seen in males, both characteristics suggest it being female.
It does seem odd to suggest that it's a female considering it exposed some sort of organ which was voluntarily withdrawn, but the other normal sexual characteristics do strongly favor female anatomy to my admittedly non expert eye.

I used to breed sulcattas and males are way different in shape and size of extrudable parts.

I wonder if that's her clitoris? Wouldn't THAT be something? Then again, do tortoises even have clitori? I know the males really seem to enjoy the act of procreating. I've seen them try on basketballs dogfood bowls and other species of tortoises and, if I recall correctly, a particularyl attractive rock.
