Angela,
I am a member of the
www.quakerparrots.com forum. It's interesting how many different owners post about their birds.
Right now, I haven't had time to do anything special with Bammy. But what I did teach him was to get himself out of bed and go feed himself and watch television till I get home.
Television..the eternal babysitter!
His set up is:
He has a beddy cage in my bedroom
a Steel contraption of a playground in the den with the television (den is off the bedroom: connecting doors)
BIG huge cage downstairs for when I have company so he can feel protected yet see what's going on.
When I get up in the AM, I raise the cover on his cage..(not take off, he's a late sleeper)..I also don't close him in.
turn on the television and make sure his food and water are fresh..then I am gone (as soon as I dress).
When I get home, he's always on the playground munching, and watching television or looking out the window.
Bammy eats with his hands:
and sleeps in his teddybeddy:
Cuddle time:
Tickle me ELmo
AND...These are my brother's birds:
