Angela,

I am a member of the www.quakerparrots.com forum. It's interesting how many different owners post about their birds.

Right now, I haven't had time to do anything special with Bammy. But what I did teach him was to get himself out of bed and go feed himself and watch television till I get home. Television..the eternal babysitter!

His set up is:
He has a beddy cage in my bedroom

a Steel contraption of a playground in the den with the television (den is off the bedroom: connecting doors)

BIG huge cage downstairs for when I have company so he can feel protected yet see what's going on.

When I get up in the AM, I raise the cover on his cage..(not take off, he's a late sleeper)..I also don't close him in.

turn on the television and make sure his food and water are fresh..then I am gone (as soon as I dress).

When I get home, he's always on the playground munching, and watching television or looking out the window.

Bammy eats with his hands:

and sleeps in his teddybeddy:

Cuddle time:

Tickle me ELmo

AND...These are my brother's birds:

I've seen that pic of the bird with the plucking problem before..trying to recall..

Anyway..good luck with them.

Thanks for sharing! They are cute.

I joined this yahoo group..a bird behaviorist is the creator (if that's the word) and I read those articles that address certain behaviors as a preventative measure.

Bammy hates showers..I can get him to take a shower sometimes. LOL...but luckily he's not a plucker. Some birds really do that sport that "fresh turkey" look with such aplomb. LOL

THAT is something to be proud of. I love it when an animal that wasn't thriving somewhere else, thrives with me..it's just a great feeling of accomplishment. I am sure you feel quite like that! It's actual evidence that you are doing something right!

I was looking at the Sun conjures..they are SO pretty and it would give bammy someone to scream to while I was gone...what do you think?

I think the screaming would never end. LOL

*shutters*

but I admit to being bias against most conures.. I like the green cheeks. lol

most of them seem more loud then any bird should ever be. LOL

My pionus will only bathe when the vacuum is on. LOL. but now that my hair is short (shoulder length) he loves to sit on my shoulder and seemingly bathe in my hair. LOL

I vote Pionus best bird ever..

I DID foster a female Eclectus for a few months.. SHE was awesome...

as for Quakers.. .. I have a super sweet one, and an evil one. LOL.
