Soundproofing?

Any of y'all with loud rock-n-roll band experience? I have a room I want to soundproof, or at least set up so some sound is absorbed; it has birds that at times are loud enough to be heard outdoors.
I ordered some of those foam acoustic wall panels to start with.

I can't put anything on the floor because I have to sweep/vacuum frequently so I can't put carpet down.

Any ideas?

Try your local car audio shop. The material they use for sound deadening in cars is amazing!

If you are not worried about the aesthetics of the room, try egg cartons or that really bumpy foam (often used in wheelchairs).

Lots of heavy curtains and drapery works as well.

Try insulating the walls too. The recycled news paper insulation may prove to help very well in that regaurd. The denser the insulation I believe the more sound it stops.
