Gaining weight after fasting

I am curious about what you do about young stubborn feeders that grow up to breeding size after a somewhat spotty past of eating. I had a female who is eating perfectly on rat pups but had fasted for a long period (about 6 months), before the fast she was almost 400 grams and lost about half that once she started eating. Assuming she will eat more normally from here on out (fingers are crossed), should i give her an extra year before breeding her? she is otherwise healthy and feeding great, better than ever since i fixed up her diet and cage, but i don't want to get overconfident. has anyone had experience with this?
