Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Grants for Surgery
Alright me and the wife were building rat racks over the weekend and the table saw bit her thumb... welll almost took the whole thing off. A piece of wood pulled her in and now she has to get surgery on her flexor tendon... Its gonna cost just $6100 for the surgeon up front! We do not have that kind of cash and was wondering if someone knew of a place that had government grants for this type of stuff. We have already done our google searching and didn't come across anything helpful. Any help will be appreciated. Just dont know what to do.....

I hope you can get for her the care she needs, what a terrible accident.
Depending of the time frame you could become insured via the health care portal.
https://www.healthcare.gov
You can also make arrangements with the doctor/hospital. Many large hospitals have financial offices/staff who will talk to you about options.

Yeah while i don't believe there are a lot of grants for this there are charitable organizations that cone through and pay off certain patients debt. I would look there if you are unable to find something i can assure you that most hospital bills however large can be paid with a minimal balance that you and the financial department agree upon. Such as making monthly payments of 50$ monthly for 10k surgeries. It may be a long term reacquiring bill but at least it not needed upfront or have an interest on it. Best of luck. Red Cross may be able to help

Well we filed for indigent at the hospital and might be approved for partial coverage (65%) either way most we will have to pay is $6350 which is the annual out of pocket limit on her insurance and yes they will let us pay it out as low as $50 per month with no down payments and no interest. Thanks.

Remember to keep track of every unreimbursed expense, costs of premiums, and so on, perhaps next year y'all might be able to take an income tax deduction on whatever amounts you will have to pay.
She is in my thoughts and prayers, I am hoping the surgery goes well and she heals without complications.

Make sure you talk to the hospitals social worker.
Many hospitals employ a social worker specifically for financial hardship cases. But, you have to ask for that person. It's kinda screwy, but most non profit hospitals have to use up A LOT of money each year on financial hardship cases. It's different than indigent. Indigent the hospital actually gets a roundabout claim for indigent patients. But there's often programs that can get people assistance for care when they fall in between the Medicaid and being able to effectively afford their private insurance income brackets. I've referred patients of mine to programs in my state, but to my knowledge hospitals have programs like that nationwide.
So ask for the social worker who deals with financial hardship cases. Most likely, you'll have to submit a spend down where you show that even paying your deductible will cause strain, but if you're willing you'll save a lot of money. And this accident qualifies because it's not for routine care.
Good luck!
