Can't even pretend......

To be a foodie.

Don't get me wrong, I love food, I make lasagna, and some of my Grandma's recipe's for various delicacies such as stuffed cabbage. And I love fresh warm blackberry pie with whipped cream. And exotic (to me) stuff like cannoli. So I have a wide range of tastes.

But some of this fancy restaurant stuff with matching prices leaves me cold. I saw this review in The New York Times this morning, for a restaurant that my Dad and his wife actually go to on occasion: http://events.nytimes.com/2010/07/21...html?th&emc=th

No thank you.

Hey be careful, don't turn too many people off to restaurants... I need to keep my job to support my reptile addiction!

When I go to a restaurant, I want a meal. Presentation is important, but if it looks gross or skimpy, then I automatically assume it is gross and skimpy, even without tasting.

I admit I didn't read the entire review - I immediately noticed the accompanying photo of a skimpy meal that looked very artistic, but was lacking in quantity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big eater; 110 lbs on a short frame, but if an entree has a price tag of $25, $35 or $45 bucks, then I want left-overs, dammit!

Nor would I go to a restaurant in search of quail eggs, herring with crayfish, pickled rhubarb, venison tartare or paddlefish caviar, lol.

I guess I just got no class
