I think they aren't that popular because they don't get the typical desert ghost color until they are adults.
They hatch bright gold and black and with each shed change.
They go from gold and black to a tan and black and finally to the white and black. It just takes a LONG time. This guy is 500 grams and it will still be another many, many sheds before he gets the adult color.
