UVB Report on coils & compacts: Please read

Hello All,

I posted this thread on the consumer report area as well, just to have it get more visibility. Since alot of people come through this forum too, this needs to be posted here also.
This is a UVB report from the UK guide that Frances Baines & a few other colleagues compiled. There is tons of data in this report, & it is very helpful. I highly recommend that you try to read through as much of it as possible, it is very interesting.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks.
The link is below.

Sincerely,
Tracie

Thanks for the info., Tracie. I know a lot of people love those compact coils, so hopefully, this will save someone the trouble.

Hello

Hello Tere,

Thanks. Yeah, I knew they were bad, but was very alarmed when I read the report. Frances is very helpful & has always answered my questions about the different phosphors that are used for lighting, etc. It is great to have someone spend that much time to ensure we have safe lights!

Hello

Hello,

Just bumping this to make sure everyone has been reading this regarding compacts & coils especially, as well as a couple of other lights. If you are considering those types of lights, well, simply put, please do not buy them.

Hello

Hello,

Just an update. A guy from the chameleon forum posted this update & I have just seen it as well.
To add onto the report on the compacts & coils & a few other lights, here is an updated report for you:

http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherap....htm#responses

So it is a start. Hopefully they will all be yanked off of the market soon!

Hello

Hello,

Collinszoo, do you not use any UVB at all for your reptiles? Just wondering....
