Random idea - journals?

Do you guys think anyone would be interested in a section for member journals? Each person could start up a thread for themselves, and post regularly to that thread about what's going on, whether it be reptiles, regular life, etc. People could stop in and comment and chat.

Wouldn't necessarily need it's own section, something like Off Topic would probably work.

I always enjoyed that aspect on some other non-reptile forums I'd frequented, and thought it might be a fun idea for use here.

Any interest?

Well, at one time I offered the membership their own personal forums here on this site (for a nominal fee, of course), and it just did not go over very well. Oddly enough it has been very well received over on my CornSnakes.com forum, so the idea itself really doesn't seem that particularly odd, I guess.

I thought perhaps resurrecting that idea, and perhaps targeting commercial concerns and allowing a banner ad right in the forum heading might be attractive to some. But I haven't pursued that thought any since the personal forums left such a bad taste in my mouth because of their absolute failure here..

I really don't care to waste my time much.

I guess it's along the same lines of why the general discussion forums on this site have never really taken off. Seems to be more lurkers than posters at any instant logged in here. So maybe this site just isn't ever going to do well trying to become a more personal and "chatty" type of an environment.
