The Long Island Herpetological Society's Annual Show ( about the 12th or 13th year) will be held on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale in Farmingdale, NY on September 28. This is a good herp sales expo and also has a show with trophies and ribbons awarded for various herp categories. I am curious to find out if anyone using these boards will be attending; and especialy want to know if anyone living in the NY Metro area or on Long Island will be attending or not attending. I am also curious to find out if anyone using these forums has ever heard of the show.....Thanks <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Best regards,

I voted for the very last choice, the wording is kinda harsh in it so I wanted to explain why I didn't want to go. &nbsp;I live in Iowa so it's REALLY far away for me and my husband has no more vacation time. &nbsp;If it was closer and my husband had vacation time left I would deffinatly go. &nbsp;Otherwise it just seems like a stuck up snotty I hate your show vote and I didn't want it to seem like that.

Hi Tegan,

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, &quot;Otherwise it just seems like a stuck up snotty I hate your show vote...&quot;&quot; Wow that response surprises me as such was certainly not my intent. How's about my rewording that one, do you think this would be better:

&quot;I know about it now, but do not plan on attending.&quot;

To be quite honest, I was quite distressed that you interpreted all that you did from my words that did not say what you think they implied. They were never intended to convey that impression. I'll try to word things more carefully in the future.[b]
Best regards,

I went to last years show and was pleased with it. &nbsp;My friends said this show is small compared to White Plains. &nbsp;Lots of vendors but not that many customers. &nbsp;I heard a lot of vendors complaining about the outcome last year. &nbsp;I'm definitely going to the next one. &nbsp;Can't pass up a reptile show if it's near by! &nbsp;No matter how small people say it is.

Heheh Dont worry about it Glenn, I know YOU didn't mean for it to sound like that but I wanted to make sure other people wouldn't see it like that either, that's why I explianed. &nbsp;I'm sure it's a great show, I wish I could go but alas I can't.

Sorry Glenn, Sept, Oct and Nov herps take a back seat to Long Island's other scaly denizens. I really did want to check it out this year. If it was on a Sunday maybe, but no way on a Saturday.

Ferdinand,

Stop by and enjoy, bring plenty of cash so the vendors will not complain this year. White lains kills us, and last year their show was a week before our's I think. This year there is a little more time between them, but still not much. It is a fun show though, and you may get a good buy - if sales are not up to speed vendors may be willing to drop prices a bit.

Steve,

I know where you will be heading more or less. Good luck. If I sell some stuff I may have enough to buy a surf casting outfit. Mine has mysteriously disappeared. Either got stolen or I forgot on our first trip of the year in June. I think it got stolen though as I remember seeing it since then - I think! Oh well, good luck, send me some fish stories.
