I am thinking about making a considerable purchase from him within the next 2 weeks and would like to know if anyone has dealt with him in the past.
Are the animals what he states them to be?
Any problems - where they rectified?
Would you or would you not deal with him again?
I want to get as much feedback as possible before I hand over a decent amount of cash to someone in out of state that I need to deal with by email.
Thanks.

Steve...I've never done any business with Kevin...but, if you want to be careful, *before* you send him your money....
Any "reputable" dealer will give you their name, business address AND phone number!!....if he doesn't want to give you even "one" of those pieces of information....RUN, don't walk!!
You can call the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in his state to see if they know of any problems...you can call other herp businesses in his neck of the woods to get "their" feedback (this part can be kind of tricky, if you happen to talk to someone who is "jealous" of him)....
You can call the Fish and Game in his State....there are "many" avenues you can go through to get information on a company (unless he's just your weekend-warrior)....good luck, boss! ....Neil

Steve,
Just drop me an email and I will put you in touch with several individuals that have done business with me. I am glad to see that you are wise enough to check on people, I totally understand being leary. There are alot of people ripping people off on the net.

Kevin,
I sent you an email. References would be great. I know we have emailed each other in the past but I just want to do a little checking before the 16th comes around and I part with some cash.
Got a bad vibe from someone selling stuff on the net and the attitude from the emails with him caused me to pass on the deal.
Can't be too careful nowadays.

Anyone here dealt with Kevin? Let me know. Thanks.

I don't know if it is the same Kevin Smith... the one I am thinking of is a scum from Oregon. (jungle Gems was the name he used then)
I would RUN... there are lots of people selling reptiles. Why play the lottery with a guy who has a past record of screwing people?! Hey, it is your money. I (and others) have filed fraud complaints with the USPS against him.
Email me if you have any questions. I have a 100+ page file on him that I sent to USPS. Search the old BOI for a very funny exchange between Kevin S and myself. There he says I "cut up" the lizards when I unpacked them and that they were not sent like that... can you imagine a weaker excuse?

Well, I bought from someone else.
I emailed him for the references like he posted to do and never got them.
No references or response to the email means lost sale.

Didn't we settle this along time ago Jeff? Excuse me, you didn't cut the tegus up(well, except for pulling/cutting toenails/toes&#33, you simply pulled the callus underneath the the chins(which is very common on freshwildcaughts), dug some flesh out and then showed pictures of gaping open wounds that you created. Many people are familiar with how far you will go to try and make someone else to be the bad guy. It is funny, I am such a "scumbag" but yet there are only two people that have ever had a problem with me(out of hundreds), and even funnier, they are problems that were handled wrong by them, not me. GET A LIFE Jeff. Go back to selling used pools or whatever the heck you do, or better yet go back to the tegu forum and be the "self proclaimed" expert you claim to be.

Thumbs down Kevin Smith 2004

Want to make sure that everyone knows that Kevin is up to his smale old trick and rip offs. For example:

- Buy a rodent feeding King, which never eats any rodents. And
Shipped UPS !!
- Kevin jerks you around for almost a year, tell you he will send a
refund payment. And crying about how he has no money.
- He tell you he sold the king to another person to pay you.
Then refuses to send any money and wants the snake shipped
collect.

I would not do any business with him for venomous or venomoids. He's a hack.

Question In response to Jeremy....

Okay, this response is for Jeremy and his little king problem. I have offered to buy the snake back continuously from him on several occasions. All that I asked was for a currrent picture that showed the snake alive and well. He for some strange reason can't supply a picture of the snake, I don't know why, it only takes a few moments to take a pic and send it to me. On three different occasions this has happened over a period of 6 mos. The snake is a rodent feeder, it was purchased from Earl Turner as a rodent feeder. But that is beside the point, he didn't like the snake, so I agreed to buy it back from him, but he can supply no proof that he still has the snake and has been quite badgering about me blindly sending the money to him with not so much as a photo showing the snake to be alive and in his care. Keep in mind, he originally said he couldn't get the snake to feed, then said he had it eating snakes, and can't photograph the snake. I told Jeremy to send the snake via delta and make it COD for the entire amount of the snake, which given the fact that he can't show any pictures of the snake, is more than fair on my part. He is for some reason refusing to do so. Why? that is my only question, it seems a fair request given the circumstances. With all the strange struggles over the little things, I am kind of left with the question of whether or not I would get the snake back if I agreed to send the money. Jeremy has the option of sending the snake to me COD, I have been more than fair and I am not going to set my self up to get ripped off, so it is up to him.
