Hi all. This is Raven. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Here's my question/problem. My neighbor's boa is gravid. Last Saturday she began what my neighbor and I thought were contractions. We were able to see her moving the babies further down her body, closer to her vent. After several hours, you could see that the mass had moved to the lower half of her body. After that was accomplished, she just stopped. No birth, no signs of any distress, nothing. She doesn't act as if she is in any discomfort, no signs of distress even now, for all appearances she appears to be doing fine - still active, still moving around her cage, still drinking water, everything she always does. Is this simply part of the birthing process? Do they, like humans, have the young drop further in the womb days/weeks prior to birth or should she have given birth by now after this event?
As a side note, we weren't expecting her to give birth until later in the month but thought we may have miscalculated. With my own boa, once she began labor with her first litter, she gave birth within hours. It is possible that I missed this process the first time because my boa remained in her hide until she gave birth. My own boa is also expecting to deliver later this month or early June and I have seen none of this behavior with her this time either.
Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Raven
