I could see where that boa would be questioned (the heavy orange tones in the tail) but I agree, it doesn't look like a cross to me either. I wonder if the hypo in it's history comes from the orange-tail line as opposed to the salmon line? Either way, nice snake.

Hog isle boas are thought to be extinct in the wild although I thought I remembered a few years ago a few were seenon the islands? (the natives normally kill them on sight) so that is why people work to keep hog lines pure.

Oh wow, that's sad they're such beautiful snakes! And I do recall orange-tail being mentioned..

April, they're actually doing pretty well in the wild at the moment. It was never an issue with the native people that I knew of, they became very popular and were imported at a rate that wasn't sustainable. After Honduras cut out exportation and the Cayos de los Cochinos became a popular eco-tourism spot, the "Pink Boas" actually are a tourist attraction now. They had one on MTV a while back, lol.

good to know, I thought I had heard they had been found again. I didn't realize they were sustainable and doing well, that's great news. The rumor about the natives I had read on a site that was well regarded but I haven't been able to track down the quote.

April, if I sounded like I was doubting the "natives" thing, it was a mistaken wording. I don't doubt it at all, I just hadn't heard about that. I believe they now know the true value of the animals on those islands.
