Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Why is my asain water monitor not active?
Hello everyone,
I've been doing years of study on large monitors, So I'm pretty good with adult monitors. However this is my first baby asain water monitor. Here's his stats:
Name: Pantoufle
Est DOB: Aug 28th 2008
Date of Adoption: Oct 17th 2008
Current enclosure size: 55 Gallon Long
(6' x 4' x 4' enclosure is in the process of being made)
Current length:
SVL: 7"
OL: 16 3/4"
weight: 84g
Enclosure Temps:
Basking: 120.0F
Hide box (located underneath the basking spot above a heating pad): 80.0F - I found out that the heating pad got turned off some how.
Cool: 71.0
Problem I'm having:
Isn't very active. Never comes out when I'm around. He refuses to eat infront of people. He will not eat mice(I offer him pinky mice).
Currently he's reciving fish (salmon & perch) and 50 crickets a day (if I put more crickets in he wont eat them) Everything is dusted with: Rep-Cal calcium with D3.
I've been holding him everyday for a few hours. One of my friends (who knows a little more about dealing with baby monitors than me) said to only hold him for 15 minutes.
Pantoufle doesn't bite, or threaten to bite if you try to pick him up slowly (like petting his back). He does toungue flick a lot when I'm in his cage or he's out and about (outside the cage).
Here's a current picture of his cage:
<table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/NlrdK5ru1uwVoUBWDYtw2A?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_TrxATa0IHBs/STBgnKbIzUI/AAAAAAAADLQ/yP0r-qHvssI/s144/Pantoufles%20Cage%2008%20006.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/JadedNightDragon/Pantoufle?feat=embedwebsite">Pantoufle</a></td></tr></table>
All materials are made for reptiles (IE the log and fake plants) and others where sterilized. His current bedding is about 40lbs of soil and 50 lbs of sand. He has about 4" deep substrate. He use to dig, but doesn't anymore.
I water the soil down everyother week.
Am I doing something wrong?
I know his heating oad was off, but even when it was on he wasnt that active.

Is there a reason he is getting 50 crickets' worth of D3 dust per day?
He could be suffering from over-supplementation. D3 in large amounts is toxic.

Yeah, 50 dusted is a lot. I've got a little guy similar to yours and i just use goldfish to ensure he's getting his calcium and what have you. Just put them in a really tiny bowl thing with water and it'll get them whenever it's hungry. My guy seems to love it and is healthy. As for activity, maybe give him a reason to move about? I put my guys basking area on one side and his water to soak in on the other, and he's constantly going back and forth.
