Superworms
I breed Superworms and I like it. I thought that it might be too much for me but it is not.
How:
Bought 25 Superworms
Put them in 4 ventilated containers (1 for each life stage).
Feed them a little piece of fruit and left them alone.
They became beetles in 3-4 weeks.
I feed the beetles Oats and Apples
They laid eggs
The eggs hatch and slimy worms appear. YUM!
Where to put them:
I put them under the sink in my bathroom. This might be the best solution. If you are like me and you let your pet roam. You don't want you pet to find the worms. It would be like finding a bag of gold to us. Yeah!
Pros
When you breed you control the diet of the live prey-When you buy the worms you have to go by what the person selling them tells you. You have no idea how long the worm has been alive and if it is malnourished.
The cost-Breeding worms cost me around $3 to $5 or less a month.- That is just to replenish supplies. I bought the containers at the Dollar Tree so I spent very little money.
Cons
Time-I have to monitor the worms every day. I make sure that they are eating the fruit and comfy
Sound- When they mate they make a clicking sound. It is a little annoying at night. (That is why I put them under the sink.
