Protean Terrarium

I've been waiting for a terrarium from these guys for 8 weeks. I've got nothing but run around. They quoted me 3-4 weeks. They told me last week that it was shipping and what a surprise, it didn't.

They are telling me they don't give refunds. How convenient when your customers don't have a choice but wait months and months.
They have no begun deleting any comments or inquiries from their facebook profile. Can't have potential customers seeing anything negative.

I am going to be instigating a charge back to get my money back as I doubt I will ever get my tank.

Have any info on them, emails between you and them, ads. And how did you pay, If via CC file a claim and you will get your money back when item is never received.

Yes I have e-mails and a receipt from my purchase. I sent payment originally from Google checkout, and then from the shipping payment as well which was sent through www.busfreighter.com

Here is an e-mail I got stating my terrarium was ready to ship .. of course it didn't actually ship.

Dear Amanda,

My name is also Amanda. Jason has hired me to take on customer service at
Protean Terrarium Design.

Your D2-36x24x24 terrarium has been completed and is ready to be shipped.
All of our shipping brackets this week are full though. Please go to
www.busfreighter.com to order your shipping and have the date set for
Tuesday of next week. After you receive a confirmation e-mail from them,
all you will need to do is forward it to us and we will take care of the
rest. You can either have your shipment as station-door or
station-station. The weight is 95lbs.

Thank you for your order. We apologize for the delay in shipping. Thank
you for your patience and we hope to have many years of business with you
in the future.

You may reach me with any questions you may have via e-mail at
info@proteanerrarium.com, Monday-Friday and I will do my best to reply in
a timely fashion and answer all your concerns.

Here is the e-mail stating they don't give refunds.
Hi Amanda,

Sorry for not getting back to you over the weekend, but we no longer
conduct business over weekends.

I apologize that we are little behind on your order but we do not offer
refunds for terrariums. We have it stated on our site as well in our
google checkout TOS. I have copied and pasted it below directly from our
site, http://proteanterrarium.com/payment-and-terms.

"Google Checkout, postal money orders, bank wires, and bank checks only.
Terrariums are individually made and will not be manufactured until paid
in full. Terrariums are not refundable, credit with Protean Terrarium
Design will be given."

Your terrarium is currently finishing curing and will be shipped toward
the end of this week.

The previous post has my receipt. I wish I had it in writing that it would take 3-4 wks for the terrarium to be finished but that conversation was on the phone.

I like how they say your terrarium is finished in one email, and then its "finishing curing". We all know it takes several weeks for 24 hour silicone to cure

This is a red flag for me. What kind of company has you pay for shipping via another company, and then have you forward that reciept to them before they will ship.

If the cages are damaged in transit by the carrier the recipient can place a claim and get the refund. At that point they can decide to have cages rebuilt or go another avenue.

With the shipping receipt I believe the carrier needs it to accept the shipment from Protean. From the pictures I have seen this is not UPS/FEDEX but truck freight which would make sense for the different shipping practices.
