They pop up here and there, but they're not very common. Even though they are very beautiful, they can be hard to take care of, and the hatchlings are hard to get going on mice. There are tight restrictions on wild collecting of California Mountain Kings (zonata). They can be prone to health issues including zonata disease, which seems to be a very contagious neurologic disorder that causes paralysis, and eventually death. That being said, lots of folks keep them with no problems at all. I have seen a few advertised recently, just keep scanning the Internet classifieds and you'll see the occasional one pop up for sale.
