Those photos are great! If you don't mind me reposting yours (I'll take it down otherwise) these two you took are my favorite!

Simply gorgeous!

So I did say that I've never seen that species around here before, but look what our local snake removal group just rescued in Riverside~

Thanks to your thread, I was actually able to ID it! Those guys (along with five other southern pacifics) were safely relocated away from people.

So how is your lil' speckled doing? Do you still have him?

Whoah very cool!! Glad to hear they were saved! That's terrific!

And contrary to my original plans, I do still have the little guy and he is doing amazing! Still is very comfortable around me and still has not made one attempt to bite even when I try to rouse him up with hand movements. And even cooler is that he takes f/t meals now as if he had always done so his whole life. Seriously an incredible little guy and as you say totally gorgeous in appearance

I took him over to a well established breeder of these and several other rattlesnake species, he probed him as a male and said he was a really great find. Got some great tips and advice from him, and am thrilled to have him as a local contact while I have the little guy in my care.

That's wonderful!
I'm so happy to hear that the speckled boy (lol Almost seems like you ought to name the lil' buzzer now ) is doing well and has a good place with you! He sounds awesome too, that must be such an amazing experience working with one like that!
Also glad to hear that you found yourself a reliable source of knowledge for these. It really is indispensable and you couldn't have gotten luckier finding a local breeder like that!

Aaaactually he does have a name thanks to my wife haha! She named him Shakes

Yeah he seems like he was destined for our little family here! Funny thing is that he is housed between an Eatern Indigo and a Mussuranna right now and no doubt that must be a bit intimidating for him lol! But he is double caged though and is safe as a new born baby haha!

And yes that was really important to me to have a local pro as a resource, taking on a hot is a whole different ballpark indeed!

D'awww "Shakes", so cute! <3
But that is a funny cage placement, your indigo and mussy must be sniffing around wondering where the snack is!

I know he's safe though, that lil' parking lot rescue sure is lucky he wound up in your household. I'm happy for you guys!

Ha yeah he is seriously pretty adorable. The way he ate the other night was like a little puppy getting his yummy yummy treaties No big crazy strike, just a happy slither over and mouth grab with a "Get in my belly" smiley face thing going on haha!

And yeah I always wonder if they all can sense each other, but they all act pretty normal and happy, so long as I keep all their bellies full of course

Indeed I am really glad his life was spared, he is a special little guy by far and I feel super lucky to have him safe and sound here!

lol Sounds like a happy buzztail baby~

Reminds me, I think you said that Shakes' shaker didn't make noise yet right? I'm not familiar with rattlers, will he be able to after he sheds? It should be interesting seeing him gain another button, I've always wondered about that process...

I think he is too

That's correct he had no rattle noise at all but after shedding the other day he got one little rattle and is now a big boy at last haha! It's not very loud but it finally works! Really cute when he does it too

Ah so that's it! One rattle... Well he's trying!
*overactive imagination* I like to believe they can hear it and that it surprises them the first time it makes a real noise.
