Ramses-Amber Baby Profiles (2016-D)

(Note this post is best viewed in threaded layout, where available.)

Living Gems Reptiles is pleased to finally profile the babies from its 2016 “D” litter.

Born on October 17, 2016 to Ramses (a September 2010 golden orange hypo male with an impeccable pedigree: his great-grandsnakes were the founder animals of the entire hypo line, and he traces down directly by Michael Lockwood’s own hands)…

Sire

As a baby:

As an adult:

…and Amber (a highly outcrossed October 2010 het hypo female noted for her vivid color)…

Dam

As a baby:

As an adult:

…this litter represents the first pairing of these two animals.

Note Mom lost her color due to “color fade,” partly I suspect due to stress from the cross-country move, but remains perfectly healthy. She should be breeder again in 2018.

The 17 babies in this litter include some of the most vivid hypos I’ve ever seen, with stunning color and solid markings. They have mostly traditional dorsals, with only a few short chains and moderate blushing; and they have predominantly traditional side crescents, with only a few unusual marks. The morph and gender splits were even, with eight hypos and nine hets, and nine boys and eight girls.

All have now shed at least six times, eaten ten times, and had “confirmation” their digestion is properly working. As has been outlined in previous posts, all of these babies come from a disease-tested facility.

As with all LGR litters, we’ve done dozens of handling sessions for each baby, part of our commitment to start acclimating them to humans.

Over the following posts, please find a short profile of every baby in the litter. For each, a short description is provided, noting any behavioral or physical quirks, along with a selection of photos showing their development over the first few sheds. For dorsal chains, “short” means two to three linked spots, and “long” mean four or more.

So grab a cup of your favorite brew, sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Thank you as always,

Baby #01 (Male, Hypo)

This little guy will either be my backup male hypo holdback for this litter (since his father died), or a massively premium pick.

Baby #03 (Male, Het)

This little dude watched me warily during the entire pricing session. No attitude, just highly observant. I would not be surprised to find he is one of those Brazilians that keeps a close eye on the entire room in his new home!

This little girl has an almost comical “unibrow” appearance. She can be feisty at times, but in adorable baby way.
