1984 by George Orwell=Life of today/the future?

I have read the book a few times over the past couple of years for school. When I read it then, I didn't think much of anything of it. But now that I think more about it, the book and life of today are pretty much the same.
Has anyone else thought the same thing?

Seems like he had some insight, you should check out George Orwell's Animal Farm also.
