$20K or 25K if traded

Could someone explain to me why the difference? I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying it's hard for me to understand why an animal that's worth a certain amount for sale it's worth 25% more when traded. What's the economic rationale behind it?

Cash is liquid. There are more things you can do with cash so the person wanting to trade may desire that more than a trade but willing to trade if it's to his advantage.

That I can understand. But wouldn't the second person offering to trade be in the same position as the one who posted first? Let's assume I put a spider ball for $20K or $25K in trade, and you have a mojave for which you have decided you can part of for $20K. Wouldn't you try to raise your price to $25K to match the trade offered in the first place?

Yes, that would be negotiating.

In reading an ad from the above person I would assume that they desire cash to a larger degree than a trade. This would influence any negotiations and tell me some good starting points. Ask 12 people the going price for XYZ snake and you'll get 12 different answers.
