You're coming pretty close to ruining your reputation.
The buyer did not jump the gun. You told him, in absolute terms, with no room for uncertainty, in a way that did not invite further exploration of the topic that you were not at fault and would not discuss the issue.
You closed the communication through your adamant and unwavering responses. As far as your position was, from the posted emails, you had refused to acknowledge his dissatisfaction and ended any further discussion.
Was he supposed to assume you were lying when you responded and keep pushing you? Was he supposed to wait around for a few days after you blew him off just to see if you'd randomly change your mind and get back to him?
He told you it was present when the animal was inspected shortly after arrival. That means it either happened in your care or during shipping (although the "beardies bite their own toes off from stress" argument is absolutely idiotic- completely and utterly removed from anything factual and frankly one of the dumbest things I have seen written on this site since Scolaro was banned), either way it would be your responsibility as a dealer to address the problem... the problem that was brought to your attention inside your own stated guarantee period.
