Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Help Iding this snake?
My pal just posted this snake and it is bothering me that I cannot find out what it is....lol. Crappy pics, but I am in the south east of PA. I tried googling native snakes, and tried matching up- but I know there are corns here ( found one last summer) but it doesn't list them...
any help would be appreciated !!

That's a really bad photo. It's not a corn snake. Would she remember if it had keeled or smooth scales? If the scales were smooth it could be a milk snake, if the scales were keeled it could be a juvenile black rat snake.

It's not an Eastern Milk Snake. It's a Northern Water Snake. Milk Snakes aren't that heavy-bodied.

I don't think she touched it to know what thew scales felt like... and yeah, it was her camera phone.... i'll link to this thread so maybe she can find info out... thaks for your help- yeah, its kinda fun to a certian point but gets aggitating when you can come to a conclusion. one
