Silkworms

Howdy.Just got some silkworms in the mail..but my leos seem reluctant to eat them. They show some intrest but never strike at them or anything.Anyone got any good ideers for weaning and how it can/should be done effectively? Thanks a bunch!

I just dangle the worm in front of their face; that worked pretty well on all my leos. Just get a silkworm to crawl on a stick or something, then push them off, they'll probably be still connected by a string of silk. Just feed them off as if you are "fishing" leos...

I usually just drop the silkies right in front of my leos and they "dance" around and the leos nab em. I do not feed my leos (except hatclings) out of a dish however, so that may be a contributing factor I like to feed mine by hand or by tongs! I feel so bad when their little gecko teeth scratch on the tongs, makes me feel like it's hurting them!

It's worth re-introducing the silkworms a couple of times. When I first got silkworms no one was interested but after a few trials nearly all of them would eat them. I leave a few worms in the cage on a mulberry leaf or on some chow so they have something to keep them busy while they're waiting to be eaten.
