SOMEONE HELP ME!!

I need some help, a close friend of mine just lost her corn snake down the bathtub drain! He's just a little baby and we don't know how to get him out!

She's really upset about it and I don't blame her, I would be too! If anyone can offer any help it would be so appriciated.

We have set up a heat lamp and rock in the bathtub as well as put a baby mouse in there to try and coax him out but nothing. I am not a plummer and know nothing about the inner workings of bathtub drains to go in and manually retrieve him but that's the only thing I can think of at this point that we haven't tried.

Has this ever happened to anyone before? What did you do? Any suggestions at all would really help at this point. Thank you!

Call a plumber ASAP. There should be something called a "clean out" right before the sewer line hits the street. This can be plugged and you might not lose him if you get there in time

The "clean out" is perpendicular to the drain with a circle cap and a square fitting (usually). Grab a wrench and pull that and shove a rag in. Don't use any toilets, sinks baths etc.

The top pic will be really hard to plug but they are usually smaller. This is where all your sewage will hit the line that goes to the street. Right now, that's his destination.

Me, personally, would dig the clean-out out, cut it, and put a mouse in a trap at the end and go on vacation for a few days. I hope she gets it but it isn't going to be easy to get it out.

Yeah I know, she just bought the snake a week ago, this is the second one she's lost to unfortunate causes :-( Just bad luck with snakes I suppose. I am know she wants to do all that she can to retrieve her little baby snake but I am not sure how much money and time she can invest in retrieving a snake, she's also going to school and is a busy girl. I would go over and help myself if I didn't have a baby to take care of 24/7! I have no idea how much plummers are, but I am sure they're not cheap. There comes a point in which the investment to get him out is going to cost a lot more than replacing the snake, but I know she's very attached to him so it's really up to her how much she wants to invest in his retrieval.
