BEN SPARKS
Hi everyone,

Not looking for a lecture, just passing along my experience with Ryan Trude.

We arranged a trade a few weeks back. My 1.2 rosies for
1.1 of his candoia. I shipped first. After he recieved my
rosies he started giving excuses about why he couldnt ship
the candoia right away. After 5 days he came back and stated
the rosies were not 1.2 but were 3.0. He said he didnt sex
them but that a friend did. He said he would still ship the
candoia but needed me to get him some money to pay for
the shipping since the rosies werent the sex he was expecting.
He said he would find some females for them in the future.
Feeling they were sexed properly I told him just to ship the
rosies back, at my expense. For some reason he didnt read
what I emailed him correctly and thought I was trying to get
him to pay for the shipping of the rosies back to me. I pointed
out exactly what I told him to do. By now he says he's just going to have someone sell them anyway. After he re-read what I told him he realized that I did in fact tell him to ship them back at my expense. All last week he was
telling me that was going to ship the rosies back. He has been saying all the while that he had no way of getting to a place to ship them. I pulled up the usual shippers and found that
within 2.1 miles of his address there were 5 ups locations,
within 7.5 miles there are 3 airborne express. He had been saying he was going to ship via usps (which I requested him
NOT to do) and within 1.7 miles of him there are 5 usps locations. I called him last wednesday and he assured me he would have them to me by the weekend. When they hadnt showed up friday afternoon I emailed him with the shipping info
above along with the 13 addresses to aid him. This morning I
get back on line and find 2 emails from him. One stating that
he was just going to go ahead and ship the candoia (even though I told him to ship my rosies back at my expense) and
another stating that he would have already shipped but that
he had lost my address and needed me to give it to him again.
Our emails have been bounced back and forth so that the last
email you get had the dialogue from every email on it. So when he emailed me saying for me to give the address to him again I thought it was funny since my address was about 20 lines down from where he typed the question.
And now I see in the classifieds he on Fauna he has my rosies
listed for sale or trade. I'll be giving him another call this afternoon to see what excuse he has now but thought I'd give
everyone a heads up on this guy. However it turns out I'll let everyone know.

God Bless to everyone !!

Hi Neil,

That took you 18 minutes to respond, your getting slow!!lol
I know, I know, he had refferences and I did initiate the trade.
I take chances on lots of people but rarely get burned. I would
have never have been able to get much of anywhere in this
place if people hadnt of taken chances with me. Ritchie was
the first guy I ever traded with (memories......)
Anyway, I'll take chances on people, thats just the kind of guy I am. I'm sure it wont be the last time I get burned but
I wont let it get me down.
Hope all is well down there Neil, take care and God Bless!

Ben, Just to fill in the blanks here did you call him about the trade or he he contact you first? The reason I ask is if you contacted him then yes you should have shipped first.

Now it sounds to me like this guy is trying to pull a fast one and you may very well lose this one. I would guess that you did send him 1.2 and that he never had the 1.1 or that he had a better offer. I would like to thank you for the heads up but I would like to hear what this guy has to say.

Hi Dave,

Yes I did initiate the trade and shipped first. After he sat on my snakes for 5 days and then came back saying they were
they wrong sex so send me some$$ for shipping, thats when
I clued in and told him just to ship them back at my expense.
This puts me out shipping both ways and puts him out nothing.
I figured you cant be nicer than that !
I have the emails but no clue how to post them. If anyone wants to I can forward the complete emails to you.

God Bless

Rob @ RK Reptiles
Ben,

If he in fact has your snakes posted for sale on Kingsnake you can contact Kingsnake and let them know the information and they will remvoe his ad until the situation is resolved.

It seems to me that when the two sides of a trade cannot come to an agreement about what has been offered and accepted, the trade is OFF! Now, that leaves Mr. Trude with your snakes, and he has the moral and legal obligation to ship them back to you at your request (especially so, since it is to be at your expense).

All this being true, it is your snakes that Mr. Trude is now trying to sell. Can we say "theft"? That's what it's called when someone is trying to sell property that does not belong to them: theft!

Hey Neil,
Didn't I just read a thread where you didn't even follow your own rules on holding animals for a potential buyer?
And now you're pointing out that this person may possibly have had bad judgement???
Which under the circumstances he did not!!!
Need I say more.

Ben,

We've had some good e-mails regarding things and you've helped me out a bit. My turn to help you out.

1) Contact every board this guy is trying to sell on and let them know about the problem. Forward the E-mails to each one.

2) Contact the local police where this guy lives, forward the detective in charge of the case those E-mails. Is your trio worth more than $400? If so it's a grand theft and will get a little more attention. Also print up copies of his ads on other sites and give those to the detective to prove the guys trying to sell them. This will cause them to move a bit faster on it.

If all that doesn't work, then putting his name on the BOI will cost him FAR more than what he get from your snakes. Nobody will deal with him knowingly in the future. I think I'll e-mail him from the KS ad........

This guy sounds like a real piece of work.
Not only is he trying to sell Ben's rosies on this board but he also had a copperhead for sale. He says it's hand tame. WTH. You don't freehandle hots! Someone is going to buy the thing thinking they can handle it.
If he is not happy with the snakes, send them back. Don't keep them them and post them for sale. They don't belong to him.
