Alan Brutosky is the Man!
There are reptile breeders, then there are Reptile Breeders. Alan is well-known for his expertise, particularly when it comes to Drymarchon, but after getting to know him a little, all I can say is what a priviledge it has been to not only purchase one of his best animals (after a long tug-of-war, I might add), but to also get pointers from the best. Basically, what most Dry breeders are doing is the opposite of what Alan does with his animals. The proof is in the pudding. He has a huge inventory of breeders, so in other words, his males don't go to family reunions to pick up women, and he selects only the best of each locale. Right now, he is working on a Suriname x Paraguay cross of yellow-tail cribos that will hopefully bring out the best in both. Here is the latest addition to my humble collection of Drymarchon. He is a Suriname yearling and as gentle as can be - which is one of the traits Alan selected for in these guys. The Guyana YTCs seem to have a 'mean gene' in them, as anyone who has met my 2-Y.O. female will attest to. This pic does him no justice, but it is all I can come up with at the time. I will try and get a better pic of him posted in the next day or so where one can see the beautiful array of purples set against that background of yellow. Quite a dazzling specimen, if I don't say so myself. And feeding him from my hand is really cool. Gotta love 'em.
