Giant Day Geckos (Phelsuma grandis)

Does anyone know where i can find wild populations of Giant Day geckos in south FL? I have been told Broward, Miami/Dade, and in the Keys, but where specifically? Just looking for a little direction, any advice is good advice. Thanks.

Restricted populations are established on Little Torch, Grassy, Big Pine, and Plantation keys.. Good luck with your search and post pics if you hit pay dirt!!!

Phelsuma grandis in the keys are far and few these days unfortunately. They were so heavily collected for so many years, the few populations that exist are usually on private property. The locals are also very fond of them so collecting them can get touchy with some people down there. Dolphin research center use to be a good spot but the employees freak out if you catch any. I've heard some claim there native.... Those people are obviously kooks that are non well informed of what's actually native. I will say some spots have some absolutely amazing geckos if you can get them. It may take a few trips down there but if you try hard enough you should at least see a couple. Take a bike and ride around on warm eve's and look slow in the keys they have been found. Also trees in fruit or flower like plams and pandanus attract them. They love lickng up the nectar.
Hope this helps Tom. In about month the youngsters should start popping up. There by far the easiest to catch and acclimate quickly.
