Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Backdoor taxes.....
I just got the following email today:

The result of this Order is that, beginning on January 1, 2007, your VoicePulse bill will include the FCC mandated Universal Service Fund contribution as an additional charge. The contribution amount is set by the FCC, and is currently set at 6%.

Well, if it is MANDATORY, then it really is not a CONTRIBUTION at all. It's a TAX, plain and simple. So howcome every minor governmental bureaucracy can levy taxes?

I read this thread thinking it was an internet thing.. Then I saw the VoIP part... Let's put this into perspective..... The Government, of whom I am employed mind you, wants civilians (y'all) to help pay the phone bill for VoIP? I am going to guess that it is used with some regularity by you Rich? Take a wild guess who else uses it alot?? That's right- the Govenment.. As Itype this in Iraq ( I leave in two weeks!!) I am looking at 3 phones that work ONLY on VoIP and 2 computers systems that work ONLY on VoIP. And this is only in MY unit, how many other units are there here? Too many for me to count..... Sounds to me like the Gov. couldn't just buy out the VoIP like they did with the Iridium phone system and now you who we protect ( with pleasure) are left to foot the bill. I'm sorry.. Rich I will become a contributing member when Iget home to help defray the cost you are being forced to "contribute".
