simple idea

How about drilling a small hole in the bottom track, next to each pane of glass and just drop an L shaped pin in the holes. You could have both panes on one side then drop the pin in the inside slide, then slide the outer pane over and drop your pin in.
What do you think? could it work?

even simpler idea

Um.. you said you don't like the showcase locks because you need a key to open them....
well... why don't you just leave the key in them? Then it's the same as a lock that doesn't need a key... That's what I do for my Brazilian rainbow boa's tank and plan to do once i get around to building new tanks for my corns...
