Glass vs. Plexi vs. Lexan

I'm going to be building a cage for my Jungle Carpet Python. I've decided on a wooden cage (well-sealed!) with a hinged door on the front consisting largely of a fixed/framed piece of glass. The sheet of ...whatever... will be 1/4" thick, 46" long, and 16" high, framed in 3/4" plywood.

Now the question is do I use actual glass? And, if I do, do I use regular plate glass or tempered glass? Or does Plexiglass (acrylic) or Lexan (polycarbonate) offer benefits that glass does not?

1/4 glass this will not scatch . or mar like the others listed will. I would also look into using a solid wood for youy door frame over plywood this will warp over time due to the ope grains of the wood jmho
