Nope,i have not done what your asking James.
I'm learning more every day with help from good people.
I dont know much about genetics at all James, but learning more of that each day.
I'm already talking to 2 vets and will continue this even if i dont actually get to complete.Just imagine the learning i will get though.
I never said it would be easy at all.

You've priced boa DNA testing at $30? You've also found that they can determine whether or not a boa is a het albino, etc? I know that Warren Booth would love to know about that revelation.

I dont know much at all in this venture yet James.I'm trying to learn about it.
This ad was just to get an idea of opinions.
Thanks for yours of course.
Pricing i mentioned was for every animal they already test,so on the hopes of reptiles being
the same i just out that out there.I'm sorry if you think thats wrong. It is whats available now.

if a proven het albino was registered and another het was also registered there be dna on those 2,so you would know if the baby you are registering was in fact a het or in this case you would know it was 66% het.i think? 2 hets make a 66% and the program will let you know this.

That's great, Rich. What I am trying to explain to you is that that same service is not available for reptiles, and it probably won't be for a LONG time. Mapping the genome for a boa constrictor is WAY down on the list of priorities in that field of research. While Warren has been able to do parentage on boas, I am sure that it would cost quite a bit more than $30. All I am saying is that before you start talking about how great this would be, get some logistics behind you, and right now, it is not logistically possible.

What about that 66% het, and what if I lied about the original hets, there are way too many holes in this. Why not try just being honest. I've never been ripped on hets myself and am not particularly concerned about it myself. I think the reason that the boa registry before went to the wayside beyond having too many holes was that there isn't a huge need for it.

Thank you James and i will try to get more info.
I just was looking to see where people stand on this before i put 1000 hrs into it.
Of course i know it will also be costly. But a simple dna test will not be mch.It will be the mapping as you stated that will be costly.
There are people in Australia that are doing this already.i'm waiting on a replt from them.

That may be right, but we are also talking about 2001 when this was first attempted.
I am honest all the time.why cant everyone be honest.
i can and would think this through and would figure how to fix the loop holes.
and i have been burned on a het,but unfortunately it was not on here and could not do much.

Not necessarily, the albino gene itself is typically considered a 'weak' gene and you can get 1 eyes from het x het, it's just seems to be much more likely when doing albino x albino regardless if they are closely related or not.

F1 and F2 are filial generations, you breed parent snake A to parent snake B and all the babies are 1st generation or F1s, if you breed F1 brother to F1 sister, you get F2, 2nd generations, this is line-breeding/in-breeding.

Hope that helps
