Michael, to tell you the truth. Tegus are the only reptile that I know of that the egg builds up pressure during incubation. Tegu eggs start off soft and dented, as the progress they get more firm. When the hatchling cuts the shell, fluid squirts out of the egg. That is why the egg appears small.
