Ditto. It was a frustrating, humbling, and eye opening experience...but at least everything worked out well. How did Jessica respond, after the fact?

She was shaken up and then looked at me and said "Lets not do that again!"

I wasnt in danger of my life or anything, just some nasty bites, BUT had she been near my face or neck, it wouldnt have turned out as good I think.. Im just happy I learned this lesson with an 8 footer who had been sick, as opposed to a nice healthy strong 10 footer!!

I was totally at fault here for a couple of reasons..

#1. not teaching her before hand how to handle a problem.
#2. Not restraining the snake before the procedure.. I just thought "Ehh I can handle her!"
#3. Jessica is 5' tall weighs just over 100 pounds, and girliest girl I have ever met.. Had I been knocked out or couldnt use my hands, there is NO way she could have done anything to help me!! I need to start letting my brother come over on cleaning day, or making sure my neighbor is home, or something!!

But the good news is her mouth is looking MUCH better!!!

At least she didn't go on a "No Big Snakes" campaign

Ya know the song where the girl tells the guy that he either gives up fishing or she will leave, and he says "Im gonna miss her.." Yeah thats about the same as if she told me to get rid of the snakes..

Someone found the poll, and voted on it; when a poll is voted on, the thread will be listed like a new post was added to it.

I've been lurking here for the past couple of days. Nice forums you guys have..most herp websites are pretty small and not too active. Is it true that pouring alcohol in and around the mouth of a very big snake will generally make it release it's bite?
