Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. I'm just curious if anyone here knows why the King Cobra (Ophiophagus Hannah) is not considered a "true" cobra and classified under the genus Naja?
Yes, it eats other snakes (cobras even)...hence it's name ophiophagus, but is this all there is to it, or is there some other taxonomic reasoning for having it's own genus?
