heating cable. please answer

If i follow albey's too cool reptiles thing on making the thing with perlite and stuff for the leo eggs. If i were to put heating cable in there would that work instead of an incubator? All i need to know is will it keep the temp at like 83 and can i vary the temperature of heat cable? If so it would be a great money saver. 12.99 vs. 99.99.:scatter:

You still need to have an enclosed area to help maintain the temp. fluctuations are not very good for the embryonic development.

it will still have an enclosed area. If i just wrap the tape around the inside then cover the little hole it made for the cable to be in.

I was just wondering as I read this thread-If you could use Heat Tape with a styro box- putting it under the box with the containers of eggs inside or would the tape get too hot to come into contact with the stryo and melt it?
Or could you also use a UTH with a dimmer or a thermostat and put it under a stryo container?
That might be another alternative to buying an incubator with the wafer thermostats.
Oh and BTW-
You can get a reptile hovabator online for about 50 bucks including shipping.
