Stop! Taxes!!

What Happened?

At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his as-.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me
to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

We had absolutely no national debt,
had the largest middle class in the world,
and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
And now in this great country of mine I have to "press 1" for English!

What happened?

That graph happened.

That number? That debt happened.

"The estimated population of the United States is 301,953,594
so each citizen's share of this debt is $29,170.96.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.28 billion per day since September 29, 2006!"

That happened.

Oh god, what will it be like when I am 50.

Nice poem. I showed it to my friend's parents and his Dad is putting it on the office fridge at work.

Too funny Bobby.

I RARELY start threads like this one, yet here I was, just finished copying the exact same list you just posted.

Good think I looked before I started a new thread.

Hilarious and true.

First of all, I especially hate property taxes.

Another tax not mentioned (probably because few people have to pay it) is "gas guzzler tax." I was always under the impression that it had something to do with fuel consumption for a vehicle given it's "class." However, as it was recently explained to me, it's actually based on a power to weight ratio--regardless of fuel economy. My brother had to pay "gas guzzler tax" on a car that gets 28-30 mpg. Now that's just shifty and deceitful.

you know, one of the main reasons early settlers left England to the to start their own colony and gain independance was to get away from taxes....... go figure =/

man thats a good one bobby.... its very true though, and was the topic of discussion for Gordon and i the other night. its kinda scary if you think about how the Gov't spends THAT much money, and what do we have to show for it? Just another war that isnt going anywhere.... Its like trying to fight the gangs in the USA... they will NEVER go away.
