Snake Skins and Such

A rather large local left its mark in our front yard. I think it is a Gopher Snake, but since I haven't actually seen it yet, I can't be sure. I'm going to keep an eye out for it, but until I find it, here are a couple pics of the skin:

Next to a meter stick:

Close up of the head:

(And I really wish I knew how to make the pics smaller. Sorry.)

Well... it's not a big Western DB! LOL
Long thin snake, could be gopher or maybe western coachwhip???
He left his calling card, keep an eye out for him.
He'll be around.

Nice place to live! Do you see any other snakes around Sedona.

I'm pretty sure it's a gopher. We've got a lot of those around here.

Aside from gophers, we've got a few varieties of king snake, the banded sand snakes (which are utterly adorable - when they're babies, they're about the size of a needle, bright orange and black rings), a few various Garter snakes, and three varieties of rattlesnake. The Western Diamondback, Northern Blacktail, and the Mojave Green. Not to mention spiders, scorpions, and all sorts of other things you don't want to get bitten/stung by. So if you ever come around to visit, watch your step. The wildlife really doesn't like being stepped on, and they make it known.

We also have house geckos, horned toads (why are the called that? They're lizards, not toads), and the very occasional Gila Monster. There are probably a lot more, but those are all I can think of off the top of my head.
